I first wanted to be a dentist when I was 19 years old and paid for my own braces whilst studying a health degree at University. My dentist taught the dental students at the University I attended and he inspired me to follow this career path, I will forever be grateful to him for opening my eyes to this wonderful and rewarding career. The thing I love most about dentistry is that it allows me to connect with individuals on a personal level and form relationships with my patients, I find this opens up trust and communication and allows us both to work together in coming up with a comprehensive treatment plan that suits them in the short and long term. I am also able to use my knowledge and skills to provide them with the best possible outcome for their oral health, as I find the medical and diagnostic, and fine artistic skills required to be a good dentist very rewarding.
Outside of dentistry, I still manage incorporate it into some of the things I love…. I have travelled extensively world-wide and have worked in volunteer clinics in Cambodia and Nepal; travel and dental volunteering in communities in need makes me indescribably happy. I absolutely love sailing also! and have sailed in Australia (of course!), Mexico, Greece, Thailand and Malaysia. If you invite me out on your sailboat to crew, it will be hard for me to say no. Scuba diving, live music (country is a favourite), camping, and basically anything outdoors is also guaranteed to put a smile on my face.
I grew up in rural NSW and worked as a dentist in both rural and coastal QLD, so I am very excited to be working in Darwin as I find it is the best of both these worlds.
